Oak Park Falcons

Oak Park Falcons is an OPYBS-sponsored travel softball program that will provide an affordable, partial year participation alternative to year-round travel clubs for OPYBS softball players.

Guidelines

• Players must play in OPYBS House League to be eligible.
• Tournament schedule is driven by the House League schedule. House League commitments and participation remain the priority.
• OPYBS will provide a subsidy to help defray the costs of participation.
• Age and squad levels will be determined from year to year based on interest.
• The Falcons will play no more than six (6) tournaments per season, unless teams are split in squads.
• Off-Season Tryouts and full team practices will begin no sooner than March.
• Roster spots are offered based upon coach’s selection after tryouts, and are not negotiable.
• There shall be no required overnight travel.
• When possible selected tournaments will be within one hour and 30 minutes from Oak Park.
• When possible tournaments for any team will not be scheduled more than two weeks in a row.
• In most cases, tournaments selected will be over weekends – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
• This is competitive tournament play. Players are not guaranteed a minimum number of innings per game.
• Participation in all practices and tournaments is expected.

Information for 2021

• Last year, we fielded two teams at 10U, 12U, and 14U, and one team at 16U. In 2021 we expect to have teams at all levels with the number of teams determined after tryouts.
• Participation in preseason OPYBS-sponsored open gyms and clinics is encouraged.
• Tryouts for 14U and 16U were held in 2020.
• Tryouts for 12U are scheduled for March or April, 2021. Exact date TBD. Participation will be mandatory.
• Tryouts for 9U/10U are scheduled for March or April, 2021. Exact date TBD. Participation will be mandatory.
• Oak Park Falcons’ hosted tournament, Falcon Fest, will be held in July 2021. Player and family volunteer participation are expected this weekend. It will be a USSSA Class “C” sanctioned tournament for 10u, 12U, 14u and 16U levels.
• No tournaments will be scheduled after the last weekend in July.

2021 FalconFest Information
Oak Park’s 10th Annual FalconFest Fastpitch Softball Tournament is tentatively scheduled for July 2021. Additional information will be released when available.
